For those without much experience, perusing through Medium.com to find decent political commentary can be a maddening task. Like much of social media, we’re told that with Medium, algorithms will guide us towards content that align with our specific interests and tastes. For those such as myself, op-eds and opinion pieces on Medium are few and far between for those who enjoy reading about anti-capitalist, radical leftist perspectives; particularly those steeped in anarchist, communist, and ecologically-based theory.

Readership on Medium continues to be dominated by establishment liberals. Instead of the fun, hip, alternative model it portrays, the website continues to boost authors who straddle the edge of liberal/progressive/social democratic traditions at the expense of, well, more informed and educated opinions. Medium certainly is not alone in this, but the fact remains that it markets itself as a savvy, perhaps more sophisticated way for readers to curate their favorite authors.
